Challenging Critical Theory on Campus
October 7th a Sober Wake-Up Call Against Anti-Semitism
Greetings,
As we step into February, I'm stirred by the words of Frederick Douglass, who advises: “The life of the nation is secure only while the nation is honest, truthful and virtuous.”
The resignation of Harvard's Claudine Gay is a wake-up call for colleges nationwide. Addressing anti-Semitism requires a broader rejection of Marxist, ahistorical critical theory (e.g. oppressors vs oppressed narratives divorced from reality). This will revitalize meaningful debate and strengthen our education system, as I discussed for BBC and Independent Women's Forum.
In a recent MSNBC segment, we discussed President Biden's approval ratings, plummeting to 33%, making Biden the least popular president since World War II. Moreover, recent polls suggest both Donald Trump and Nikki Haley are outpacing Biden in the 2024 presidential race. Recent Bloomberg/Morning Consult polling shows Trump handily beating Biden in key swing states, including by 10 points in North Carolina.
For CNN Opinion just prior to Ron DeSantis dropping out of the presidential race, I pointed out how Florida's made remarkable strides in education reform and school choice, putting them at #1 in nationwide state rankings.
Innovation meets resistance, as I lay out for IWF: President Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren are shipping tech jobs to China by restricting U.S. company iRobot’s freedom to sell itself, killing an immediate 350 U.S. jobs. Meanwhile, FTC Chair Lina Khan assists Biden and Warren in stifling U.S. innovation – she was in Brussels yesterday hobnobbing with European bureaucrats, not helping American jobs and consumers.
On the bright side, Elon Musk's SpaceX challenges bureaucratic overreach by the National Labor Relations Board. For IWF, I explored how this lawsuit may redefine regulatory authority limits.
And lastly, publication day is fast approaching! Publishers Weekly reviewed my book Motorhome Prophecies, releasing March 12, saying “readers will be riveted by Sheffield’s unrelenting efforts to make sense of her upbringing.” They call it “a searing memoir” of a journey that is “hard to forget.” We hope you’ll pre-order your copy today here.
As we navigate our world world, let us remain steadfast in our pursuit of truth, justice, and virtue.
Wishing you a February filled with abundant blessings.
