Can Harvard Be Saved?
Finally, Harvard President Alan Garber admits lack of conservative views on campus is a 'problem'
Dear Friends,
Happy Friday Eve! As a Christian, I believe everyone is redeemable.
But some cases are more dire than others. As a Harvard grad student, I witnessed how conservative voices were routinely dismissed, ignored, and even degraded—both in the classroom and across campus life. The environment fostered fear, not freedom. That same toxic culture has now allowed violent antisemitism to fester and erupt into a full-blown crisis.
I’m sharing my latest piece for The Daily Signal, where I explain why this matters—not just for Harvard, but for the future of free expression in America.
Harvard’s leadership has failed. The institution that once stood as a beacon of intellectual rigor now faces a moral reckoning. President Trump is right to demand needed campus reforms.
I’m hopeful Harvard can make its needed changes. If Harvard wants to remove itself from federal mandates, it could stop accepting public taxpayer money. Some campuses, like Hillsdale College, take this approach, freeing them from government regulations conflicting with perceived educational missions.
Our universities must educate, not erode reverence for Truth and the timeless principles that made both Harvard and America exceptional.
With gratitude,
Carrie Sheffield
