A Fresh 2024 Start
Greetings, and Happy New Year! Yesterday, I read during church from the Book of Isaiah about Jerusalem: “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent. And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her vindication shines out like the dawn and her salvation like a burning torch.”
Praying for Middle East peace and eradication of anti-Semitism in 2024 and always. If Israel’s enemies laid down their weapons today, there’d be no more war. If Israel laid down its weapons today, there’d be no more Israel. Israel is by far Palestine’s biggest trading partner (though not the reverse), and efforts to hurt Israel through BDS only hurt Palestine. My hope in 2024 is freedom of Palestine from the brutal Hamas regime, which represses its own people, especially women.
In my recent CNN Opinion piece discussing the GOP debate, I hoped for more uplifting discourse. As I watched the candidates volley personal attacks, this contentious exchange overshadowed substantial conversation about solutions and combatting President Biden's agenda.
The repercussions of inflation due to Bidenomics are undeniably taking a toll, especially on retirement savings and charitable contributions. Recall the classic film “Home Alone”? For Independent Women’s Forum, I explore how it transcends mere entertainment, illustrating inflation's impact on grocery prices. Comparing protagonist Kevin McCallister’s grocery purchases from 1990 to today reveals a surge in costs, from around $20 to $54 today. Inflation hurts poor families—disproportionately non-white—hardest because they spend far more of their budgets on consumer goods than wealthier households.
On LiveNOW from FOX, I delved into the Federal Reserve's neglect and efforts to gradually decrease soaring mortgage rates, currently lingering around 7%. Bidenomics policies, coupled with the Federal Reserve's actions, are steering us toward becoming a nation of renters, diverting us from the dream of home ownership.
